CONSECRATION OF THE UNITED STATES TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS TO MARK OUR 250TH ANNIVERSARY

Dear Parishioners:

This June, our U.S. Bishops will consecrate the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.  The consecration is scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 11, on the eve of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Friday, June 12).

Here are some wonderful resources available:

  • Livestream of the Consecration, which will take place in the context of a Votive Mass on June 11, in Orlando, with all the bishops gathered in Plenary Assembly.

  • Reflection and Video on the decision to consecrate the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

  • We Hold These Truths: Celebrating Catholic contributions to the United States of America on the Semiquincentennial Anniversary

  • Read and reflect upon Dilexit Nos (He Loved Us), on the human and divine love in the Heart of Jesus Christ, and Delixi Te (I Have Loved You), which follows and continues on love for the poor.

I think we all recognize that more prayer for our country, in both thanksgiving and supplication, is a good thing particularly on such a momentous occasion as this anniversary.

Mary, the Immaculate Conception, patroness of the United States, pray for us!
