Sep 14/15 is liturgical life ministry weekend!

On the second weekend of our Ministry Fair, we will be highlighting our LITURGICAL LIFE MINISTRIES. This

group of ministries consists of:

- Church Decorating
- Eucharistic Adoration ministers
- Greeters
- Music Ministry
- Sacristans
- Ushers
- Welcome Café team
- Altar Servers
- Extraordinary Minster of the Eucharist at Mass (EOM)
- Ministers of the Word (Lectors)
- Ministers of Care to the Sick and Homebound (MOC)

All of these follow the seminal document of the Second Vatican Council, The Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, which states that the Eucharist is the “source and summit of everything we do.” These ministries lead our parish in our experience of the Church’s life at prayer. What these ministries seek is the full, conscious and active participation within the assembly of everyone according to his or her role. The fundamental existence of these ministries is to work for active participation in worship, which helps deepen the life and faith of the community, the Body of Christ.

Every baptized member of our parish community participates in the liturgical ministry of the Church. Certain kinds of liturgical ministries, which through training, exercise these ministries at every liturgical celebration. Musicians also play a important role at almost every celebration. All liturgies are to be musical in nature; their role and presence is essential. Our liturgical ministries are based on baptismal and appropriate gifts, but also require education, training in necessary skills and appropriate spirituality, proper attitudes, diligence, accountability and acceptance of responsibility.

These ministries would be beneficial for those who have a serious life of prayer, and the understanding that he or she is serving the greater assembly of the church as a whole.
