St. Patrick Religious Ed

~Celebrating Service~

Dear SRE Parents,

It is the mission of the community of St. Patrick Church to provide quality faith formation for our children. Responsibility for this faith formation is shared by the entire parish community, the School of Religious Education staff, and you, the parents. The success of our mission depends on a cooperative and trusting relationship among us all.

To symbolize that relationship and to ensure that we meet the highest standards of faith formation, we have created the attached covenant (solemn agreement) between the St. Patrick School of Religious Education and you. Please review it carefully. As Director of Faith Formation, my signature on this letter attests to my commitment to the SRE portion of this covenant. Your registration of your child(ren) for the 2010/2011 year will serve as your commitment.

Religious Education is not a product to be consumed; it is a process in which to become involved. Religious education cannot be provided for families; it can only be created with them. In fact, the most effective religious education occurs within the family setting, whether explicit or implicit. The Church is here to support parents and guardians in their role as their children's primary religious educators. Therefore, we welcome your input and realize that the SRE staff and SRE families must work together in order to best share our Catholic faith with the children. We will respect this partnership and provide regular opportunity for parent feedback.  We welcome your ideas and suggestions – along with how you can be active in making them happen.

Thank you for modeling faith for your child(ren) and for allowing us to serve as your partners in this holy calling. As always, please don’t hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance in any way.

 Peace and Blessings,

Deacon Dennis Brown

Pastoral Associate/Director of Faith Formation
