Dear Third Grade and RCIC Families,

We have come to another milestone in our preparation for First Eucharist!  Today we are providing you the information for the children’s First Communion Banner!

These banners will hang on the end of your family’s pew on the day of First Communion so you will want to spend time working with your child to help prepare their banner.  These banners will be a reminder of this special day for years to come.

The guidelines for preparing the banner are enclosed.  The banners must include the child’s name on the front.  As we said the banners will hang on the end of their pew and the names on the banner serve as a “nametag” of sorts, therefore it is very important to that every child returns a banner.

Banners should be an expression of each First Communicant!  Your child may use any color felt they wish and should use their creativity in their expression.

We will have patterns for some symbols on our website if you need ideas, however, it is NOT required that you use them.

Banners should be returned on or before our April 26th session.  They can be brought with the children to SRE and submitted to their catechist.

If you know that you will not be able to attend the April 26th session, please let us know and we can make arrangements for drop off at the rectory PRIOR to the session.

Please remember to attend our VERY important First Communion practice session on Sunday, May 3rd from 2-3 pm in the New Church.  The day of First Communion is a exciting time with many activities going so it is very important that you and your child attend the practice session to help the day go smoothly for your family.

Boy’s white ties are usually available at stores that sell First Communion wear (dresses, etc.).  They can also be purchased on line at a number of websites such as www.autom.com and www. Personalcreations.com.   At the Personal Creations website, you can personalize the tie with a name and date of First Communion.  We also have a couple in our office.  We will place an order from Autom on April 6th.  If you are interested in ordering a tie from Autom, please email the style and catalog number to Jami by Sunday, April 5th.  Payment will be due when ties are picked up.

Lastly, a reminder, we need have a copy of your child’s baptismal certificate on file.  If they were baptized here at St. Pat’s, we just need the date and can locate the information in the parish files.  Copies of Certificates can be submitted at the rectory during the week or to your child’s catechist.

If you have not already, please provide a copy of your child’s baptismal certificate no later than our next session on April 5th.  If you have any questions, please contact Mandy Spriegel (ASpriegel@stpatrickwadsworth.org) or Jami as soon as possible.

We want this to be a beautiful day for your family, so please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

 Peace,
